| So as many of you may know, the Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale beta was released to the public yesterday, free for Playstation Plus users and PS Vita owners. And from the tremendous amount of battles and matches I've had, I have gathered enough knowledge to give a review of this oncoming game.
To start off, I'll go through the differences of the Vita and PS3 versions. There honestly aren't that many things that are too different. The graphics are the same on both versions. When you pick up an item on the Vita version you touch the screen instead of R1, taunt is Select instead of L2 and that's about it. The character selection screen is a little different, on Vita you will have to press Square to choose your character.
Now onto the gameplay. As I said before, the game is just a Super Smash Bros' clone, but with a small twist to it. You fight to build up your meter to KO the other players. There are low, high, normal, and side grab and low, high, normal, and side attacks for each attack buttons (square, triangle, and circle) X is for jump. There is a dodge (DODGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) function as well as block. L1 and then move left or right to dodge, and then L1 in the air to air dodge. Overall, I enjoy the gameplay because unlike the Super Smash series, you can do some serious combos, which I always enjoy.
Now onto the downside of the beta. It is limited to online, free for all if you don't have a friend playing with you and then teams. There is mic allowed so there is A LOT of stupid talk going on. And as expected within the first day, people already found out which character is the best to spam with. Radic will be the most annoying character so far, so for those who will get the beta, and the demo when it's released, be prepared to be shot from across the screen......a lot. Lag isn't bad at all, I've only had a few really laggy matches but other than that, it takes it pretty well. and joining games is much faster than I expected.
That is pretty much it for the beta. Hope this review helps you in any way, and I will be doing a review of the full game on the weekend of the release.
